Long before the Occupy Wall Street was stifled on a mass scale by several defining human rights abuse incidents, there was Kent State. It is a good example of the abuses of our constitution and amendments, and lack of accountability for crimes against it. This is what the U.S. government thought of free speech and freedom of assembly.
Are we living in a police state to protect corporate elites and multimillionaires? If not, then why are unconstitutional laws being passed and staying that can criminalize people for being homeless or for even feeding them in certain areas of the country? Why is there a pipeline being ran down the middle of our country that was installed against our own State's Department's approval, and being allowed to poison our water supply and people? These are questions that need answered, among many others. Political charisma can't fix the severity of the problems we are having. The public is becoming more aware of the roots because it is affecting so many, and even the sleeping are awakening. As is evident by the true state of our union, the bias towards right wing destructive agendas hasn't let up.
